He  purchased land that was received by patent by James Dillard for military warrant for service in war of 1812 containing 160 acres on 15 Sep 1860 in Leavenworth, Kansas, United States.1213

He was mustered in to Company B of the 12th Cavalry Regiment of the Kansas State Militia under Captain Samuel Hollister on 8 Oct 1864 in Atchison, Atchison, Kansas, United States.1415

Hiram was discharged on 27 Oct 1864.1415

He registered for the military draft  in Feb 1865 in Atchison, Kansas.16

He received patent from United States for NW 1/4 S26T7R21 on 3 Nov 1871 in Leavenworth, Kansas, United States.18

H M Curry was listed on the 1875 Kansas census as the head of household. According to the census, H. M. Curry was a 40 year old farmer born in Illinois. Also listed in the household was A J Curry, Evey Curry, J. H. Curry, M C Curry, H M Curry, N Q Curry, J G Curry and Lizzie Curry.3

Hiram M Currey was listed on the 1880 census as the head of household. According to the census, Hiram was a 44 year old farmer born in Illinois. Also listed in the household was Angelina, a 43 year old female born in Kentucky. Hiram and Angelina are listed at the bottom of page 18 in ED 147. Listed at the top of page 19 are the following Curreys: John H Currey, a 19 year old male farmer born in Kansas; Eveline, a 21 year old female born in Kansas; Mary C, a 16 year old female born in Kansas; Hiram, a 13 year old male born in Kansas; Wm Q , a 9 year old male born in Kansas; Jane, a 7 year old female born in Kansas; Lizzie, a 5 year old female born in Kansas; and Dora, a 3 year old female born in Kansas.19

H. M. Curry was listed on the 1885 Kansas census as the head of household. According to the census, H. M. Curry was a 50 year old farmer born in Illinois. Also listed in the household was Angeline Curry, age 47 and born in Missouri; John Curry; a single male farmer age 23, born in Kansas, William Currey, a single male age 17 born in Kansas; Hiram Curry, a single male age 15 born in Kansas; James Curry, a single male age 11 born in Kansas; Elizabeth Curry, a single female age 9 born in Kansas; Dora Curry, a single female age 7 born in Kansas; Marion Currey, a single male age 4 born in Kansas and Bessie Moses, a single female age 2 born in Kansas.  H. M. Curry served in the Kansas militia in 1865.6

H. M. Currey was listed as the head of household on the 1895 Kansas State census in Delaware Township, Leavenworth County, Kansas. According to the census. H. M. was 60 years old and born in Illinois. H.M. came to Kansas from Missouri. H.M. was a farmer. Also listed in the household were A.J. a 59 year old female born in Kentucky who came to Kansas from Missouri; Dora an 18 year old female born in Kansas; Marrian, Currey, a 14 year old male born in Kansas and Bessie Morris, a 12 year old female born in Kansas.7

Hiram M Currey was listed on the 1900 census as the head of household. According to the census, Hiram was born Aug 1835 in Illinois. Also listed in his household was his wife, Angelina, born Oct 1836 in Kentucky; a son, Marion H, born Mar 1882 in Kansas; a daughter, Dora A, born May 1883 in Kansas; and a granddaughter, Bessie B Morris, born Apr 1883 in Kansas.20

Hiram died on 2 Mar 1901 at the age of 65 in Lansing, Leavenworth, Kansas, United States.2,2126

He was buried after 2 Mar 1901 at Mt. Muncie Cemetery in Leavenworth, Leavenworth, Kansas, United States.2,21,2730
