and Elizabeth Vawter his wife of the County of Jefferson and state of India
na of the first part and Thomas Blair of the county and state aforesaid
of the second part Witnesseth that the said parties of the first part for
and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and seventy dollars
lawful money of the United States to them in hand well and truly paid
by the said party of the second part the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged
have granted bargained sold conveyed and confirmed and by these presents
do grant bargain sell and convey and confirm unto the said party of the
second part his heirs ans assigns forever, a certain lot or parcel of land
lying n the county of Jefferson and State of Indiana being apart of

This Indenture made this thirteenth day of March in the
year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty between
Beverly Vawter and Betsy Vawter his wife of the first part
and Thomas Douglas of the County of Jefferson and State of Indiana
of the second part Witnesseth that the said Beverly Vawter
and Betsy his wife for and in consideration of the sum of fifteen
hundred dollars lawful money of the United States to them in
hand well and truly paid by the said Thomas Douglas to the
said Beverly Vawter the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged
have granted bargained sold aliened released conveyed and
confirmed and by these presents do grant bargain sell
affirm release convey and confirm unto the said Thomas Douglas
his heirs and assigns forever A certain tract or parcel of land
lying and being in the county of Jefferson and State of Indiana
known and distinguished by being the south east quarter of
section number twenty nine in range ten east and township
four north which quarter section contains one hundred and
sixty acres: Also fifteen acres of land from and commencing
at the south east corner of the north east quarter of section
twenty nine in range ten and township four north
both of which tracts make together the quantity of one hundred
and seventy five acres. And all the estate right to the interest
claim and demand of them the said Beverly Vawter & Betsy
his wife of in and to the said premises & every part thereof
together with all and singular the privileges and appurtenances
to the same belonging or in any wise appurtaining and the
rents issues and profits thereof to have and to hold the premises
is hereby bargained and sold or meant or intended so to be with
the appertances to the only proper use and behoofs of the
said Beverly Vawter Thomas Douglas his heirs and assigns
forever and the said Beverly Vawter and Betsy his wife for themselves
their heirs executors and administrators do covenant and promise and
agree to and with the said Thomas Douglas his heirs executors admin-
istrators and assigns that they are the tru and lawful owners
of the premises hereby granted & have good right full power & lawful
authority to sell and convey the same in manner & form afore
said further that they the said Beverly & Betsy Vawter their heirs ex
ecutors and administrators will warrant and forever defend
the aforesaid premises with their appurtenances and every part
and parcel thereof unto the said Thomas Douglas his heirs
and assigns against all persons claiming or to claim by from
or under them or any of them or by from or under
any other person or person whomsoever. In

Beverly Vawter of the first part and Pascal Vawter of the second
part witnesseth that the said Beverly Vawter hath given granted
aliened released and confirmed and by these presents do give grant
alien release convey and confirm unto the said Pascal Vawter
his heirs and assigns forever the following lot or parcel of land
bounded as follows to wit beginning at the half mile stake dividing
South East and North East Qrs of section 25 township no 5
North range ten East thence West with the  line dividing the afores
aid tr one hundred and sixty poles to the center of the section thence South
with the line dividing the South east and South west qrs of the above
said section Eighty poles to a white walnut thence East 5 / north eighty
four poles to sugar and swamp buck thence east 30 north 73 poles
to two elms and a sugar tree thence east 5 1/2 north twenty five
poles to a hickory and sugar thence north with the range line
forty four poles to the beginning estimated at seventy acres more or
less And all the estate right title interest claim and dem
and of him the said Beverly Vawter of in and to the said
premises and every part thereof together with all and singular
the privileges and appurtenances to the same or in any wise
appertaining and the rents and profits thereof to have and to
hold the premises hereby estimated to four hundred and 20 dollars
with all the appurtenances to the only use and behoof of the said
Pascal Vawter his heirs and assigns forever and further that he
the said Beverly Vawter his heirs executors and administrators will
warrant and forever defend the aforesaid premises unto his son

Will of Beverly Vawter

Know all men by these presents that I Beverly Vawter of the
County of Jefferson and State of Indiana considering the uncertainty
of this life and being of sound mind and memory do make declare
and publish this my last will and testament.
1st I will to my son Pascal Vawter and his assigns $300 three
hundred dollars he having received $700 seven hundred dollars
in land and other property
2nd I will to Elizabeth V Blair my grand daughter heir my daughter
Lucinda $800 eight hundred dollars her mother having received
$200.00
3rd I will to my son Philemon Vawter $750.00 seven hundred
and fifty dollars he having received $250.00 two hundred and
fifty dollars. I hold a note against him for $500.00 five hundred
dollars drawing eight percent interest.
4th I will to my son James C Vawter $730 seven hundred and
thirty dollars he having received $270.00 two hundred & seventy
dollars in money and property.
5th I will to my son Richard B Vawter $810.00 eight hundred
and ten dollars he having received $190.00 one hundred and
ninety dollars I hold a note against him for $450.00 four
hundred and fifty dollars drawing eight per cent interest I
allso have an account against him of $118.00 one hundred
and eighteen dollars.
6th I will to my grand son Ira Vawter son of Cyrus P
Vawter $500.00 five hundred dollars to be placed at compound
interest until he becomes of age at which time he is to receive
principal and interest
7th I will to Sam H Vawter $830.00 eight hundred and thirty
dollars he having received $170 one hundred seventy dollars
Dr by note $400 four hundred dollars at eight per cent
per anum
8th I will to my son John M vawter $25.00 twenty five dollars
he having received $975.00 nine hundred and seventy five
dollars in land and other property
9th I do nominate and appoint my sons Richard B
Vawter and Philemon Vawter my executors of this my
last will and testament.
In testimony whereof I have to this my last will and
testament subscribed my name and affixed my seal
this 28th day of January in the year of our Lord one
thousand eight hundred and seventy.

On this day appeared in my office Cyrus P Vawter
one of the subscribing witnesses to the last will and testament
of Beverly Vawter late of said county deceased who being duly
sworn on his oath saith he saw the said Beverly Vawter sign and
seal the foregoing paper as his will and that he with Elizabeth
V Blair subscribed the same as witnesses in the presence of each
other and in the presence and at the request of said Beverly Vawter
the deponent further saith said Beverly Vawter was at the time
of making and executing said paper as his will of full age to devise
his property and of sound mind and memory and not under coercion
and restraint and that he did publish and declare the same to be
his will and further saith not.
